Coronavirus and your Atlanta women’s OBGYN appointment
Atlanta women’s OBGYN are taking measures to keep patients safe
Atlanta women’s OBGYN takes the health of our Atlanta, GA area patients seriously. In fact, it’s why we do what we do. The coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has been spreading, meaning offices like ours need to take steps to keep our patients, doctors, and staff healthy. Before you head in for your appointment with your OBGYN, review your health and follow guidelines from the CDC.
Determining if you can come to your appointment
Before you come in for your OBGYN appointment, you need to make sure you are healthy. If you have been exposed to someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19 or have traveled recently, contact us before you come in. We want to ensure you are healthy and that our staff isn’t exposed.
If you are experiencing health issues such as a dry couch, shortness of breath, or have a fever, you will need to reschedule your appointment. These are signs of the coronavirus, so it would also be a good idea to contact your primary healthcare provider for additional assistance.
Protect yourself
The CDC has made recommendations on what people can do to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Make sure you wash your hands frequently with soap for at least 20 seconds. Sing a song to make sure you wash them long enough. It’s a good idea to wash your hands after you use the restroom, are outside, and after you return home.
Limit your exposure to people. Try to stay home as much as possible, especially if you are expecting. If you do go out, stay at least six feet away from other people and wipe down anything you touch. And again, wash your hands when you return home.
If you haven’t had your flu shot, consider getting it. Your OBGYN can give that shot, as well as your primary care physician. Though it doesn’t protect against the coronavirus, it can prevent serious complications and help keep our healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed. Contact your doctor with questions.
Your OBGYN team is also doing our part to keep patients and staff healthy. We are doing regular cleaning per the CDC guidelines and limiting the number of people in our office.
